What is Ethiopia to you? Is it a nation-state, an idea, a political predicament, the land of Jah people, the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, the land of sun kissed faces, blackness, a geographic entity, a cartographic dream? Nurrudin Farrah says Ethiopia is a generic term, and therefore inclusive of all the people of the Horn of Africa. But he also teaches us that maps always tell half truths. Other ghosts linger inside the empirically given. This blog is a collective space to think about Ethiopia as object, as idea, as discourse, as area: artists, poets, theorists and maybe even map makers thinking together.
